PayPal, the world's largest online payments service, has strengthened its position as Britain's most visited financial website. Over the 12 months to February 2009, paypal.co.uk saw a further 50% increase in visitors compared to last year according to the latest data published by leading internet research company, Nielsen Online. It didn't take long for Douglas Bowman, Google's former visual design leader, to land a new gig. Creative Capital's Spencer Ante reports that Bowman is taking the helm as creative director for Twitter, a spot that, up to now, was being held down by Twitter co-founder Biz Stone. For middle-aged and older people at least, using the internet helps boost brain power, research suggests. A University of California Los Angeles team found searching the web stimulated centres in the brain that controlled decision-making and complex reasoning. The researchers say this might even help to counteract the age-related physiological changes that cause the brain to slow down. BT has received the green light to begin its roll out of super-fast broadband. Ofcom has delivered its long-awaited ruling which offers BT more flexibility in the way it delivers fibre networks.
