Police are investigating how criminals managed to steal £1million from the taxman by accessing a Government computer system and granting themselves rebates. The thieves filed returns online using the passwords of genuine self-assessment taxpayers – then diverted the money to bogus accounts. Amazon.com Inc., the world's largest online retailer, on Wednesday announced that it has agreed to buy online shoe store Zappos.com Inc. in a deal worth nearly 850 million U.S. dollars. The Woolworths brand has begun trading as an online business, more than six months after the ex-High Street giant went into administration.
